Audience with the Queen
Ferdinand was a great one for building cathedrals, including those of Toledo and Burgos. He does not appear to have been as interested in domestic architecture, and I’m not able to identify where the family home was in Toledo. I suspect they lived in the alcazar, an amazing building which is now a military museum. Ferdinand and Alphonso both renovated the alcazar.
The Toledo alcazar has a continuous history since Roman times, and you can view the Roman ruins as part of the impressive restoration.
Apologies for the hiatus last week. I had the flu, and everything came to a grinding halt.
